Anneau du Rhin

The Anneau du Rhin sits at Biltzheim in the Haut-Rhin; the motorcycle side of the facility is run by the Moto Club de Biltzheim. The course can be driven in several configurations: 4.0 kilometres in its largest layout, 3.7 kilometres as the competition variant and 3.0 kilometres as an alternative, plus a 1.1 kilometre practice loop. The site also holds an off-road area and tracks used for road safety training. The operator states an FFM approval for training and competition, a homologation for speeds above 200 km/h and a permit for events with up to 12,000 spectators. Motorcycle track days, called roulages there, are booked through the operator's shop; the site does not publish one consistent day rate for motorcycles, so none is quoted here. Riding is on asphalt. According to the operator the layout is defined by a 1,050 metre straight plus fast sections such as the Courbe Adrenaline and the S du Sanglier, along with corners of widely varying speed. A straight of that length means you arrive at the braking point very fast, and that is where you notice immediately if the bike starts to weave instead of running settled. Top of our cause list for weave at high speed on straights is a ride-height and sag balance that is off, usually a rear that sits too high - set sag first, before you touch damping. Treat it as a starting point, not a safety promise.
