Enduro race day: the setup and prep workflow

Enduro events reward preparation and consistency over a single fast lap. Sort the bike and the plan before the start.

Walk and read the terrain

If you can inspect sections, note what dominates - rocks, roots, sand, mud, climbs - and set up toward the hardest part. Soft and technical wants a supple, low-speed-active chassis; fast cross-country wants more support.

Bike prep the night before

Fresh or clean air filter, chain cleaned/lubed and correctly slacked, tyres and mousses checked (replace a tired mousse), controls and fasteners checked, coolant and bolts. Carry spares and tools you are allowed - tube/mousse tools, levers, zip-ties, a plug.

Suspension and tyres for the day

Set sag for your kitted weight. Open low-speed compression front and rear for grip in the technical, keep high-speed support for square hits. Drop rear tyre pressure within safe limits (mousse if available) for traction.

During the event

Ride your own pace, smooth and within margin - mistakes cost far more time than a slightly slower clean lap. Eat and drink at every chance; fatigue causes crashes. Re-check chain, tyres and bolts at service. Setup is a starting point, never a safety guarantee.
