A hall, not a field: SX Concept in the Zone Industrielle du Moulin at Roye was France's first indoor motocross facility when it opened in 2014. The tracks sit inside a 9,000 square metre building with a ceiling between 12 and 6 metres, and the layout brings doubles, triples, whoops, tabletops and waves. It is FFM-recognised and open to riders from 12 years old on 85cc machines. Hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 14:00 to 22:00, Wednesday 10:00 to 22:00, Saturday and Sunday 10:00 to 18:00, plus an evening session from 18:00 to 22:00 on the first Saturday of the month; Mondays are closed. The day is split into three four-hour sessions, one costing 28 euros for adults and 12 euros for children. The best thing about a hall is not the weather, it is the repetition. Riding the same rhythm section for four hours under identical conditions teaches you faster than any natural surface that changes every twenty minutes. What catches nearly everyone on jump faces: the bike kicks and bucks instead of leaving cleanly. First on our cause list is rear rebound - it returns too fast and launches the rear; slow it down.
