Sacajawea Motorsports Park sits near Salmon in Lemhi County, Idaho: some 40 acres of public land leased to the county and administered through Idaho Parks and Recreation. The site holds a natural-terrain track, a separate peewee loop and a handful of trails. The main lap brings tabletops, a whoop section and plenty of jumps, with berms in nearly every corner, and the venue lies a little above 1,300 metres. Restrooms and spectator bleachers are there, and no fees are charged - not for riding, parking or camping. Years ago this place hosted big AMA races before falling into disrepair. A free natural-terrain track does not get prepped daily. Expect to find the lines yourself, and treat your first session as reconnaissance rather than training. On loamy ground the most common complaint is always the same: the front knifes in the rut and oversteers. Top of our cause list is a fork riding too soft and diving too deep - add compression and the front stays up and steerable.
