Rhynie sits near Huntly in Aberdeenshire, the track itself at Mains of Lesmoir. It is the home circuit of Aberdeen & District Motocross Club, which re-formed in 2006 and then built the course itself. The club runs a six-round championship from April to September and additionally hosts a round of the Scottish MCF Nationals; the ScotMX Scottish Motocross Championship has also visited. The track's reputation is clear: fast and technical, and therefore an honest test at any level. A track built by its own riders rarely contains pointless elements - but it does contain sections you have to know. Ride your first laps behind somebody who rides here regularly instead of piecing the lines together on your own. What is most likely to unsettle you in exactly that combination: the engine dies in the tight technical sections when the revs drop. Top of our cause list is a dragging clutch or a light flywheel - a flywheel weight or a properly sorted clutch setup takes the basis away from the stalling.
