MXPN stands for Motocross Petite-Nation: a park on Montee Dinel in Cheneville in the Outaouais, running since 2015, about 30 acres in size and roughly halfway between Montreal and Gatineau near Lac Simon. Dominic Chainey has managed it since 2020. Three courses sit side by side: one for beginners and kids, a turn track in soft sand, and the main track, meant to serve everyone from novice to professional. The ground is mostly sand over a hard base, studded with plateau-style jumps. Parts and a basic repair service are on site - opening hours, though, are announced on the park's Facebook page, so check them the day before. Sand over a hard base is its own case: the rut carries soft at the top and hits hard at the bottom. Stay loose over the bike and let it work instead of holding it down. On the plateau jumps the usual problem then appears: the bike kicks and bucks off the face. Top of our cause list is rear rebound - it returns too fast; slow it down and the back end settles.
