Motorsportarena Bad Fischau in Lower Austria runs three courses side by side: the Supermoto asphalt track plus a large and a small motocross course. For the asphalt track the operator lists summer hours of Thursday 13:00 to 18:00, Friday 9:00 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 18:00, and Saturday, Sunday and selected public holidays 9:00 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 17:00; Monday to Wednesday it is closed. The motocross courses run Friday 13:00 to 17:00 and at the weekend 9:00 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 17:00. Riding is only possible after booking through the arena's own booking system. Half a day of Supermoto costs 40 euro in the morning and 50 euro in the afternoon, a full day 65 euro. The operator caps the track at 45 riders and at the same time states a minimum of five riders before a session runs at all. Our record holds a track length of 1,700 metres at around 278 metres of altitude, with a tight, technical character on asphalt. Tight and technical means you are turning in almost constantly rather than rolling, and a bike that does not pull into the hairpin sharply enough costs you time and forearm strength several times per lap. If the front pushes wide on a short asphalt course like this, top of our cause list is a front end sitting too high: the geometry goes lazy, and a few more millimetres of fork protrusion through the triple clamps sharpen the turn-in. Because operation depends on both a minimum and a maximum rider count, book your session before you travel and confirm shortly beforehand that it is actually going ahead.
