The Circuit de Bellefontaine on Rue de Bellefontaine in Avesnes-sur-Helpe is run by Moto-Club Avesnois. The track is 1685 metres long and 8 metres wide, with natural topsoil given as the surface. Unlike most French club tracks it opens twice a week, Wednesday and Saturday from 1:30 pm to 6 pm. With an FFM, FMB or UFOLEP licence you pay ten euros, with another licence or none, fifteen; showers, toilets and drinking water are on site, sidecars are admitted and the venue can be hired. The regional paper L'Observateur reported that the club rebuilt the layout in March 2012: the section closest to the houses was closed, the start was moved, the crests were reworked and a 300-metre straight was added at the end of the lap. The new layout opened on 15 April 2012 with a round of the regional championship. Natural topsoil cuts ruts over a training day, and in ruts the front end decides. Top of our cause list for a front that knifes and oversteers is a fork riding too soft, diving too deep and knifing into the rut: add compression before you change your line.
