Monster Mountain MX Park lies just west of Tallassee, Alabama, and is run by Monster Mountain Motorsports, Inc. According to riderplanet-usa the property covers 206 acres; the national track is made of red clay, sand and loamy soil, and it is joined by an intermediate, a vintage and a peewee course, an RC track and around seven miles of woods trails. For overnight stays there are 26 sites with electric and water hookups, plus restroom and shower facilities and potable water. Riding runs Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm. The listed fees are 25 US dollars per person, 20 for members, an annual membership at 35 US dollars per rider or 70 for a family of up to four riders, tent and RV camping at 20 US dollars each (50 for two nights on race weekends) and 10 US dollars entry on race days. An MX helmet is mandatory and UTVs are not admitted. The operator itself names weekly training sessions run by its own academy, a year-round racing programme and the rule that the park does not open when the ground is too wet and muddy. Red clay cuts deep ruts once it holds moisture, and that is where the lap is decided: the front knifes in and oversteers the moment it tips into the rut. Top of our cause list is a fork set too soft that rides too low - a few more clicks of compression keep the front higher in the stroke and the line clean.
