The Crossodromo Tazio Nuvolari sits on Viale Learco Guerra in Mantova and belongs to Moto Club Mantovano Tazio Nuvolari. The club states that from 15 August it runs training on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 09:00 to 16:00; information and booking go through the club by email. The racing history is unusually dense: the first 250cc Grand Prix ran here in 1991, a 250cc World Championship round in 1996, the 500cc class arrived in 1998, the 250cc Italian GP in 2000, several MX1 and MXGP rounds between 2007 and 2020, and on 25 and 26 September 2021 the 74th Motocross of Nations. Winners in Mantova include Trampas Parker, Marc Bervoets, Andrea Bartolini and Tony Cairoli. For the Motocross of Nations the lap was listed at 1660 metres with 21 corners on sand, run anti-clockwise. Sand behaves unlike any firm ground: it builds deep ruts and waves within a few laps, the rear is constantly looking for new purchase, and you ride more on the throttle than on the brake. When the rear then starts to pogo and swim in the deep stuff, top of our cause list is rebound that is too fast - slow it down and the rear stays where it belongs.
