Indianapolis Motor Speedway opened on August 14, 1909 according to Wikipedia and, with a permanent seating capacity of 257,325, is the highest-capacity sports venue in the world. Motorcycles use their own layout, which is not the same as the car road course: the motorcycle course used since 2014 measures 2.591 miles (4.170 km) with 16 turns, while the 2008 to 2013 version ran 2.621 miles (4.218 km), also with 16 turns. Both are run counter-clockwise and take in the Snake Pit complex. Wikipedia gives the surface as asphalt plus the historic strip of brick at the start-finish line. MotoGP raced here from 2008 to 2015. The car Grand Prix road course used alongside it is laid out differently, with 14 turns. Our record lists asphalt with a technical, tight character: the fast speedway sections are followed by infield combinations where clean turn-in matters more than corner speed. That is exactly where a lazy-steering bike costs you every tight line. Top of our cause list is too little rear ride height - raise the rear or drop the front so the steering bites again.
