Grentzingen in the Sundgau, today part of the commune of Illtal, is a club track in the best sense: 1200 metres of natural ground, a mere five metres wide, looked after by Moto-Club de Grentzingen and open to motocross and enduro alike. Riding runs Wednesdays and Sundays from 1.30 to 7 pm, and on Saturdays additionally in the morning from 10.30 to noon and then again from 1.30 pm. There are toilets on site, and access is designed for people with mobility or sensory impairments. Five metres of width is the feature you plan your day around. There is no second line beside the worn one here - you ride the rut, or you do not ride. So turn in cleanly, get your eyes up early, and when overtaking wait rather than placing yourself where there is no room. On natural ground with exactly one line, what we hear most often about this surface duly arrives: the front knifes and oversteers in the rut. First item on our cause list is the fork - set too soft it rides too low and folds; wind on the compression.
