Bowers MX sits on West Hastings in Amarillo, Texas. The operators describe the facility as a 60-acre moto playground with a few different types of tracks for bikes of all sizes. Practice runs on weekends, and on Wednesdays as well during the summer. The pricing page lists 20 dollars per rider for practice and a 5 dollar gate fee per day; on top of that an AMA membership is required, linked directly from the page. Races are held on the first weekend of every month, the season opener is given as 16 and 17 February, and the facility hosts a Loretta Lynn area qualifier. For questions about fees and rules the operators explicitly point to their phone number and their Facebook page, because not everything is kept up to date on the website. Our own record holds hardpack as the ground plus the traits jumps and technical. On the hardpack we have on record, small hard braking bumps build up in front of the braking points and line up further with every session until they overwhelm the fork on short travel. If the fork goes harsh and packs up over that chop, top of our cause list is this: the low-speed compression is too firm for the small chop - open it a few clicks. That is a starting point you still have to ride and judge for yourself.
