Acqualonga has existed since 2013, built by Mario Boccia - a regional champion and qualified instructor - after earlier attempts at other sites in Irpinia. 1200 metres, FMI homologated, run by Motoclub Boccia, and the ground is soft and sandy enough that riders train here through the winter while other Campanian tracks sit in mud. The season runs September to May; it closes over the summer, when dust and irrigation make the track unusable. Come with a plan, not just a tank of fuel. The place is built around coached training, from a seven-year-old on a 50 to a rider past fifty on a 450, and simply reeling off laps gets the least out of soft ground. There are no floodlights, so the day ends with the sun; there is a bar, hot showers and 220-volt hook-ups. The fault that catches almost everyone in soft sand: the rear pogos and swims. Right at the top of our cause list is rear rebound set too fast - fewer clicks out, so the rear stops packing up.
