Crispiano - La Francesca

La Francesca sits on the SS 172 at the Crispiano junction, in the hinterland of Taranto: 1300 metres of earth, category 4, homologated by FMI and UISP. What makes it special is less the lap than what hangs off it - the site is home to a motocross and freestyle school with trained instructors, minicross lessons for children and bikes to hire for anyone sitting on a motocross machine for the first time. If you are a beginner, or bringing one, this is the rare case where the structure matters more than the track. Use it. And if you already ride: a school track is usually well prepared and for exactly that reason tempts you into wanting too much too fast - take the 1300 metres section by section, not in one go. Meanwhile the surface reliably delivers a familiar problem: the front knifes and oversteers in the ruts. Top of our cause list is the fork - it rides too low because it is too soft and folds into the rut; wind on the compression.
