On the Ardeche plateau the site is run by Moto-Club Plateau Ardechois and listed by MX Circuit as Circuit du Chateau des Eperviers; the president is a Mr Queyreyre and the club is based in Issarles. The track is 1800 metres long and 7 metres wide, and the directory names sandy soil as the surface. Motorcycles only are permitted, and an FFM or UFOLEP licence is required. There are no fixed opening hours: the entry simply says you have to call ahead. A riding day costs 6 euros, an annual pass 31 euros, and toilets are available on site. Turn up without having dialled the club's number and you may well find the gate shut. Sandy ground on a seven-metre width leaves little room. The line digs in over the course of the day, the rear works far harder than it would on firm ground and starts to build up in the worn sections, because it never gets time to settle between two hits. Our records also hold a technical character, so long full-throttle sections are unlikely over this distance. For a rear that pogos and swims in sand, top of our cause list is rebound that is too fast - slow it a few clicks before your first laps.
