Cowboy Badlands Extreme Sports Park on I-10 near Fannett, some 12 miles west of Beaumont, no longer exists - the land has been redeveloped and there is no sign of a rebuild. What stood here once was substantial: five motocross tracks, among them a front track, a back track and a peewee course for 50 to 100cc machines, plus around 13 miles of enduro trails and a large mud pit, spread over roughly 100 acres. The main course was watered, groomed and lit. On race days it ran Loretta Lynn area qualifiers and Ponca City qualifiers - this was not a field with a few berms in it, it was a regional name. If you want to ride in this corner of southeast Texas, plan again and pick a facility that is actually open. And if you come across a page online promising hours and prices under this name: lapsed motocross domains get passed around and keep the old wording. Call before you drive.
