Corigliano d'Otranto sits in the middle of the Salento in the province of Lecce and is one of the few motocross loops in this corner of Puglia: 1400 metres on earth, category 4, homologated by both FMI and UISP. That double homologation is why organisers from either federation can turn up here - for you it mainly means race weekends are busier than a track this size suggests. We found no reliable source for opening hours, prices or an operator contact; that is worth a phone call before you make the drive. The Salento means heat in summer and heavy, wet earth in winter. Both change the same track so much that a memory from July is no use to you in January. Ride the first laps deliberately slowly and read the ground afresh instead of recalling last time's lines. On damp earth the fault we see most often on this surface forms quickly: the front knifes and oversteers in the rut. First item on our cause list is the fork - too soft, it rides too low and folds; wind on the compression.
