In enduro your knees are especially exposed: rocks, roots and constant dabbing load the joint. There are two designs to choose from.
**Knee guards** are light, breathable and protect against impact and abrasion. They do not, however, prevent hyperextension or twisting of the knee. For trail riders and moderate pace they are a good compromise.
**Knee braces** go further: a lateral hinge limits the joint's movement and protects against ligament tears - the most common serious enduro injury. They are heavier and pricier, but the smarter choice for ambitious riders.
Fit is critical: the brace must sit firmly above and below the knee without cutting off circulation. Try it on with the pants you actually ride in. The list below shows currently available models from the catalogue, sorted by availability and rating.
