Sassello - Giardinetti

The Giardinetti track lies on Monte Gippon above Sassello in the province of Savona and is run by Moto Club Sassello. According to mxcenter.it it is 1500 metres long, has an earth surface, is graded category 2 and carries both FMI and ASI homologation. It opens on Saturdays from 9 to 13 and 14 to 18, and on Sundays from 9 to 13 and 14 to 19, with the directory advising a call before you travel. Facilities include a bar, cold and hot showers, 220 V sockets and a minicross track; there are no floodlights. The place has a long history: the local paper IVG reported in 2022 on its fiftieth anniversary and on the roughly thirty people from Sassello who laid out the circuit themselves back then - partly out of the urge to try converted road bikes and their own prototypes off road. The anniversary put machines from the late 1960s on show and honoured the surviving founders. Our record has Giardinetti down as a technical track, and on that kind of circuit you pay for every riding error with your forearms. If your arms pump up after a few laps, top of our cause list is gripping the bars too hard: ride with loose arms and a centred attack position, light hands and heavy feet take the load off the forearms.
